Top Wedding Tips

November 20, 2017

We love everything about weddings here at Field and Forest and are regularly asked for our top tips for planning the perfect outdoor wedding. So, grab a cuppa and get ready for some planning inspiration…

Tip No. 1: Consider the Pennies

It is always difficult to talk about money and budgets when planning your dream day. I would recommend making a wish list of the most important things to you both – for some couples it will be food, for others it is the structure or the amount of guests. It is totally unique to you! Two of the biggest costs will be your chosen structure and the tasty food served to your guest list.  Remember that sometimes a compromise can help achieve your overall wish list. For example, maybe food is your top priority and you want lots of guests. This may mean you may want a lower price structure. I would draw up a rough budget starting with these two items and then try to stick to it!

Tip No. 2: Blank Canvas Big Ideas

The joy of a Field and Forest wedding is the beautiful blank canvas it provides. You pick your suppliers, your structure, the style and the order of your day, all with a little love and support from us along the way! This gives you flexibility to break away from the standard wedding package and itinerary so you can design your day your way.

Decide on the style of your day and draw up plans and ideas for the different areas such as the ceremony within the Blessing Circle and celebrations in the Half Moon Field. Then get Pinteresting!

We can help you by booking all of the important infrastructure such as generators, toilets and lighting so that you can concentrate on the fun bits.

Rethink some of those wedding day standards…Will you have a seating plan or would you prefer to have your guests mingle and choose their seat on the day? Will you have a three course sit down wedding breakfast or street food served from vintage food vans?

Tip No. 3: Have a Plan

Your wedding day is only a few days away; your dress and outfits collected, your guests are on their way to help setup and the suppliers are all booked in! It is a lot of people to manage in a short space of time, which can be overwhelming. Our best advice is ‘Have a plan’ - allocate roles to close family and friends and write out a timeline of your set up and big day. We can provide you with a template event plan and work through it together so that everyone knows contact numbers and where they need to be when.

Tip No. 4: Help on your Big Day

Your wedding day is here! Your besties surround you as you prepare to say ‘I Do’ in front of your nearest and dearest within the Blessing Circle. A Wedding Planner is a hugely under rated role here in the UK and a really important consideration for your Wedding Day. We want you and your guests to relax and enjoy the flow of your day, so consider employing a planner to help ensure that everything and everyone is where they should be. A Planner will help to manage the on the day suppliers, styling movements and guests needs ensuring it happens just the way you want.  Essential in our book!

No. 5: Have a Great Time!

This is such a special day for you to celebrate with all of your favourite people. Enjoy every second and make sure that you and your partner take a few moments to step back and admire the event and the moment that you have created together.

Remember that whilst you know every single little detail, your guests don’t, so don’t stress if you have left a flower out of the Flower girls hair!

Have a great time and make some great memories at Field and Forest.

We hope this has helped and we are always here to support you along your Field and Forest journey.
